Compared to your teen years your skin turn over slows down by 28%.  This means that dead skin cells tend to stay longer on the outer layer of your skin.  As a result your skin may take on a more dull appearance.  To remedy this you will want to exfoliate your skin at least once a week.

Use mild products that do not introduce toxins into your body.  It is important that you do not start building up toxins already in your 20’s.  Click here to see a good toxin free skin care line.

Each night before going to bed make sure you use:

  • Cleanser
  • Toner
  • Moisturizer

If you have very oily skin, you will want to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face again in the morning.  Otherwise, just use a moisturizer with sun protection in the morning before heading out.

One of the key aspects of caring for 20s skin is protecting it from sun damage.  80% of premature aging comes from sun damaged skin.  Use a sunscreen with and SPF 15-20.  Make sure to apply it to your face and neck.  The neck area has a tendency to age faster than the face.  You will probably notice some little creases in your neck before you start seeing lines on your face.  To keep an ageless look it is important to protect the neck.

Extra Skin Care

Exfoliate Once a Week

In your 20’s you will want to exfoliate at least once a week.  This gives you back a glow to your skin, instead of having a dull shade.  If you do not have sensitive skin you can exfoliate more than once.

Use a Mask Once a Week

Depending on your skin type you may also want to to use a mask once a week.  Those with normal to oily skin may tend to have slightly enlarged pores in some areas of the face.  Using a mask, such as a clay mask, you will deep cleanse your pores and remove any excess oil.  Using a toner after will temporarily reduce the size of your pores.

If you have dry skin you may instead want to use a hydrating mask.  This adds moisture to your skin.  A well hydrated skin heals better than a dry one.  Click here to see cleansing and hydrating masks.

Particular Skin Issues

Acne

If you have acne you may want to use a different daily skin care regimen.  A very good acne treatment that we recommend is Clear Action.  It has been clinically tested and apart from dramatically reducing the signs of acne it also nourishes the skin.  With this system you will want to cleanse your skin both in the morning and at night.

If you suffer from acne you will also want to make sure you use a clay mask at least once a week to really clean out the pores.
